Allergies are something many grapple with, especially this time of year (Spring and Summer). The best way to control allergies surrounds one common theme: the more you can clean your body out, the less you will be bothered by allergies, whether environmental or food. To do this you need to make sure your liver - the body's detox organ is doing its job. You should clean your liver at least twice a year using special liver herbs, my favourites are milk thistle, artichoke and dandelion root and leaves. You can use a standardized capsules containing these three herbs. B vitamins esp. Vit. B6 also help, as they are involved in many intricate enzyme processes occurring in the liver. If you are like many Americans, stressed from job and family responsbilities,, it would also be prudent to have acupuncture done on the liver points and also stress acupunture points. I would also treat the kidney points, as these are important for detox as well. Last but not least you need to have the colon and digestive processes working well in order to detox the body. So bowel movements should be at least once daily, and a probiotic (lactobacillus) in the digestive tract is very important in order for the body to process what is eaten in the best way. It also helps keep pathogenic bacteria and fungi from inhabiting the intestines. If you have a sluggish digestion, that will make allergies worse, as your body will not be able to rid itself of toxins well, thus promoting an inflammatory response, increasing histamine release, and exacerbating allergies.

Acupuncture can also treat the common allergy sites: the common ones being sinus congestion and headache. This will definite help the allergy sufferer in this high pollen season.
