Bio
Dr. Guang Xu, L.Ac., OMD, Ph.D., Dipl.Ac, is a national board certified and Maryland licensed Acupuncturist. She graduated from Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China in 1984. During her time at the university, she trained for five years in Chinese and western medicine, and received her Doctor of Medicine degree. Post-graduation, she then practiced at the University Hospital as a physician of TCM (acupuncture, herb etc.) and Western medicine for 10 years. During her time at the hospital, extensive training and experience in acupuncture and Chinese medicine and herb applied to different diseases allowed her to gain a broad knowledge base, clinical diagnostic and treatment skill and ability to confidently manage her clinical practice. She specializes in the treatment of pain, stroke, women’s health, immune disorder, allergies, stress, depression, insomnia, some nervous system diseases, such as paralysis. From 1988 she studied ShuangJinHua (herbs) on antibacterial effect and immune functions, that earned the First Place of TCM Science Advanced Technology Award in Heilongjiang Provence, China in 1996.
Dr. Xu acquired her Ph. D degree in Medical Science from Kagawa University School of Medicine in Japan in 1998. Her PhD thesis focused on Macrolide Antibiotics as immunomodulator that regulate immune functions. During her study in Japan, she also acted as an TCM advisor for physicians for their TCM practice.
After moving to US in 2001, Dr. Xu’s had conducted medical research at Howard University School of Medicine for five years. While there, Dr. Xu’s work focused on neuroscience and pathology of Alzheimer’s disease. She also studied effects of medications in food intake and weight management.
Dr. Xu then worked at Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute and Neurodiagnostic LLC for 13 years. She conducted medical research and focused on clinical diagnostics of neural system diseases. She was one of the main members that completed the clinical trial in Alzheimer’s diagnostic.
Dr. Xu has published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed professional journals.
