Acupuncture by a caring practitioneer - 30+ years experience
I have been practicing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Pioneer Valley since 1980 with offices currently in Cummington and Northampton. My patients come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from those who have an established belief in the mind-body connection to those who arrive at acupuncture as a last resort when conventional treatments have failed. Regardless of how my patients come to acupuncture, I meet them where they are and work in partnership to facilitate healing. Treatment plans are designed for each patient to stimulate the body's natural healing energy and provide relief of symptomatic complaints.

Patients with acute or chronic pain make up a large portion of my practice. I also treat many patients with a broad range of health issues including respiratory, reproductive, digestive and emotional problems. I find it very gratifying to help patients improve their quality of life using safe, natural methods.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are effective for balancing the body's natural cycles and energy. In addition to acupuncture using very fine sterile needles, I offer several non-needle methods including bio-magnets and mild electric stimulation of acupuncture points. This makes treatment accessible to everyone including children.
I am a Massachusetts licensed acupuncturist and a Diplomate of Acupuncture of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 1980, where I studied acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine. I completed internships with Dr. James Tin Yao So and Dr. Ted Kaptchuk, and also worked at the Pain and Stress Relief Clinic at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Boston, serving as Senior Staff Acupuncturist. I was also Staff Acupuncturist at the Worthington Health Center in Worthington, MA.

Currently I am a member of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Society of Massachusetts (AOMSM), and held the positions of President and Vice President of the Massachusetts Acupuncture Society, the predecessor of the AOMSM, between 1986 and 1989. I have maintained an acupuncture practice in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts since 1980.

Prior to studying acupuncture, I was a student in the Neurosciences at Tufts University earning a Bachelor Science degree in Biology in 1972. After graduation I served as a Research Assistant in Neuroanatomy at Tufts University School of Medicine, Erasmus University Medical School, Rotterdam, Holland and Boston State Hospital. My summers during college were spent working as a psychiatric nursing assistant at a VA hospital near my home. I found it very rewarding working with patients, trying to provide compassionate care.
