Bio
Susan Sandage is a graduate of Kent State University (Class of 1977), holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She has worked as a registered nurse for more than 25 years, starting her career working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She has worked in all areas of nursing including home care, treating elderly patients with diabetes, pulmonary & heart disease, and non-healing surgical wounds. “My nursing experience has enriched me greatly in many ways. I have treated many patients throughout my career for ailments anywhere from a heart attack to a sore throat.”

After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, Susan was successfully treated using acupuncture, recovering fully in less than three months. Coming from a Western medical perspective as a registered nurse made her more appreciative of the miraculous improvements made by using Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Susan graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque, NM with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. She is an Oriental Medicine Diplomat by the NCCAOM, Licensed Acupuncturist (VA), and is nationally certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. She has added training in cosmetic, rehabilitative, and mental health acupuncture, as well as extended chronic pain studies.

I wouldn't trade Susan for any amount of money in the world!!! I can't believe how much better I feel. For the past 20 years my lower back has ached. Of course sometimes more than others, till the last year and a half the ache became 24/7. I was finally diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and spinal arthritis by an Ortho-Dr. he started me on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Rx. The NSAIDs left me with insomnia. So I stopped that treatment pretty fast. A friend of mine gave me Susan phone number, and I of course was a naysayer. I really didn't think it would work. But, after a really bad week at work I made an appointment. I figured it was worth a try because I wasn't going start on real Rx pain meds. (I still have to go to work and be able to function to pay for health insurance and Flex Benefits). Anyhow, I started seeing Susan in Feb 2012 and within a months time my 24/7 ache was gone. I fell better than ever!

After having three children I just didn't feel like myself. I was tied, wasn't sleeping properly and in general felt very unbalanced. I visited my gp who ran numerous tests and bloodwork; only to one told that everything was "normal". I didn't feel normal and felt like I was constantly yelling at my kids. I was a hormonal basket case! After visiting Susan I feel balanced, my sleep returned to healthy pre-pregnancy levels and in general I feel more like my old self. I have used several acupuncturists over the years and find Susan to be not only a wonderful practitioner but also a lovely person who really listens to my concerns. She has also helped my sons with some of their regular colds and tummy bugs.
