Practice Information:
Dear Prospective Patients,

I exist to help people heal. Medicine is both "science" and "art."
The science of medicine entails using acquired knowledge and skills to diagnose the origins of a disease and to understand how the body will respond to treatments. However, it is the art of medicine, which comes to fruition through compassion and creativity which leads to hope, restoration, and true healing to a person.

I believe my unique background coupled with my specialization in Classical Chinese Medicine equips me with the best "science" and "art" to bring holistic healing to a patient's mind, body, and spirit. I find inspiration in the words of Dorothy Sayers:

"Work (Medicine) is the gracious expression of creative energy in the service of others."

I hope to have the personal opportunity to help you live a healthier and happier life in your mind, body, and spirit. Please feel free to contact me directly by phone or email with any questions you may have.

Many Blessings,

Dr. Chang

We specialize in Sports Acupuncture and Family Wellness.

Within Classical Chinese Medicine, there's a special technique called Wei Ke which was historically used to bring warriors and athletes back onto the field as soon as possible. We've successfully treated a wide variety of sports injuries related to cycling, running, martial arts, ballroom dancing, basketball and more.

Family is everything and we have successfully treated infertility, colic for infants, allergies, asthma, and eczema, just to name a few. For example, just by creating special essential oil blends and teaching patients which acupuncture points to apply it on, we have helped children and adults be cured of their asthma and get off their nebulizers completely.
Before I pursued medicine, I embarked on a much more “traditional” career path. After graduating from Columbia University in New York City with a B.S. in Engineering and Management Systems, I worked for Ernst & Young, Thomson Financial, and other Wall Street firms as a strategy consultant and pharmaceutical compliance analyst. My previous work experience has been extremely beneficial as it has helped me to understand the unique pressures and stresses that many of my patients experience.

Then one day, I was involved in a horrific car accident which left me in a coma. Doctors informed my family that I had less than a 10% chance to survive. While I did eventually awaken, I was left completely immobile for three months and incurred severe injuries, including: 70% hearing loss in my right ear, loss of smell, severe migraines, and vertigo. Eventually the doctors here in the States said they’ve exhausted their options and could not help me anymore. Undeterred, I flew to Asia where I was treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine for several months. The results were nothing short of miraculous: my 70% hearing loss improved to a 15-20% loss (which eliminated the need for surgery), my migraines and vertigo were completely eliminated, and I was even able to jog again. If you saw me today your immediate thought would probably be, “Uh…What accident?”

After my recovery I returned to the daily grind of Wall Street, but was soon restless about my life. Surviving death was, quite literally, a “life changing” experience, and my goals and desires had changed. After much prayer and reflection, I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my business career to pursue a career in acupuncture and herbal medicine so that I could help people in the same way I was helped at my lowest point in life. I have not regretted the decision for a single day and am thankful that I am doing work that I love and that I know helps people.

Dr. Chang is a Doctor of Acupuncture (D.Ac.) in Rhode Island and a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in New York and New Jersey. He received his B.S. from Columbia University in New York City. He is also currently pursuing his PhD in Classical Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Chang had the rare privilege to study Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) with Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th Generation Daoist priest of two Daoist lineages - the Jade Purity Yellow Emperor Lao Zi School and the Complete Reality Dragon Gate School.

Most acupuncturists trained only in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which utilizes 12 meridians, whereas with Classical Chinese Medicine one utilizes all 74 pathways of the body.
Having knowledge and experience of all 74 pathways allows Dr. Chang to choose the most appropriate pathway to provide healing.

Dr. Chang is blessed with a wife and two little dogs (Champy & Checkers). His current challenge is learning Latin Ballroom Dancing, thanks to his wife. Please pray for his stiff hips.
